At BWP Starline, the manufacturing philosophy should combine traditional craftsmanship with controlled production methods. Wicker manufacturing depends heavily on proper material selection, preparation, accurate forming, consistent weaving and final inspection. Industry references similarly emphasize material sorting, controlled drying/soaking, mould-based forming, weaving, trimming and final QC.

1. Raw Material Selection

We begin by selecting suitable-quality wicker/rattan weaving material and wood according to the required basket design.

The material is checked for:

• Proper thickness and consistency
• Flexibility
• Strength
• Surface quality
• Freedom from excessive cracks and defects
• Consistent colour and appearance

Only properly sorted material should proceed to production. Consistent cane/wicker dimensions help achieve a more uniform weave and finished appearance.

2. Material Preparation

The selected wicker material is properly prepared to achieve the flexibility required for accurate weaving and shaping. Depending on the material, controlled drying and/or conditioning is used before weaving.

This stage is important because properly prepared material is easier to weave without unnecessary breakage and helps maintain the desired basket shape.

3. Precision Wooden Frame Manufacturing

The wooden components are cut according to the approved product dimensions using controlled cutting methods.

The wicker ends are neatly trimmed and secured, avoiding loose strands and uneven finishing. Excess material is removed to create a clean, professional appearance. Similar commercial rattan processes include trimming excess material and removing fine fibres before final QC.

7. Surface Finishing

After weaving and assembly, the complete basket is carefully inspected and finished.
